Fulfilling the Legacy
Will’s grandfather, the late William M. “Buck” Ozman, Sr., was the most influential person in his life. After leaving school at the beginning of his ninth-grade year to help his recently widowed mother, Buck quickly learned that to get anywhere in life you can’t be afraid of hard work and dedication. He did auto body work and farmed for many years before starting his business, William M. Ozman Excavating Contractor, in 1950. Buck started out with just a backhoe and dump truck, and was one of the first contractors in Talbot County to install septic systems. Over almost fifty years he grew to be one of the most respected excavation contractors in the mid-Shore region, installing septics, clearing lots, grading, installing driveways, riprapping around shorelines, doing site work for tennis courts, digging footers, grading and seeding yards, and digging ponds. Will spent much of his childhood with his grandfather- riding to check out job sites, learning how to operate and repair equipment, and developing Bucky’s same passion for dirt. Bucky went home to be with the Lord and his beloved Dorothy in 2009.
In 2015, Will started his turf management business while working as an apprentice lineman. He felt the strong desire to follow in his grandfather’s entrepreneurial footsteps, and the next four years of hard work and networking helped him grow to the point that he was able to leave his job in utilities and be self-employed full-time. He loves all things turf, but his other passion is creating ponds for clients. In addition to owning and operating Ozman Turf Management LLC, Will is continuing his grandfather’s legacy with his excavation business. As a tribute to Bucky he has kept the original business name.
Will is an avid waterfowl hunter and is adept at creating impoundment ponds that provide habitat for ducks, geese, and other wildlife. He can also redesign and renovate failed impoundment ponds or those that are not at peak performance. We are proudly licensed, bonded, and insured to install septic systems. We also provide many of the same general excavation services Bucky did, such as grading and ditch improvement. Contact us today to see how we can help you with your next project!
